Fresh

No spoilers. Hold sports updates until you are ready to see them.

Notifications marked 'spoiler held' while a message about a rideshare is delivered normally

What Fresh does

Fresh is an Android app that keeps sports spoilers out of your notifications. It looks at notifications from the chat and sports apps you choose, works out whether a message looks like a sports update, and holds those messages back until you are ready to see them. Everything else, like a message that your rideshare is arriving, comes through as normal.

How it works

  1. Choose your apps. Pick which apps Fresh should watch.
  2. Grant notification access. Android asks you to allow Fresh to read notifications.
  3. Fresh holds the spoilers. Messages that look like sports updates are held back, and Fresh tells you how many it is holding.
  4. Release them when you are ready. Tap one button, or turn filtering off, and your held messages are delivered.

You can adjust how aggressively Fresh filters with the sensitivity slider.

An important limitation

Fresh only works with notifications. It is not foolproof.

Because of the way Android works, apps can only intercept notifications. Fresh can't change what is shown inside another app. If you open a chat or sports app, you may still see a spoiler there, including messages Fresh held back from your notifications. Fresh lowers the chance of a spoiler turning up on your lock screen or notification shade, but it can't promise you will never see one.

Support the developer

Fresh is made by one person. If it saves you from a ruined game, you can chip in to help keep it going. Support is entirely optional.
